Raceline USA
Brand/Model: Falken Azenis RT-615

Size: 205/50/15

Performance Category: Ultra high performance summer

Treadwear: 200

Cost: $70/tire

Your Impression: Being my first sticky summer tire, I was really amazed how much grip these tires have. Cornering is extremely stable on winding roads and highway driving is pretty comfortable. They even grip well in the rain.

Pros:
1) Best bang for the buck ultra high performance summer tire
2) Good treadwear (My current set has been driven for more than 15K miles and 3 track events)
3) Excellent grip
4) Great as DD tires for spirited drivers
5) Great for touge and autocross

Cons:
1) When pushed to the limit, will not give warning when they're about to break out
2) Can't be pushed to hard in the rain
3) Awful track tires. Will grease up after a couple of laps when fully warmed up

Overall Rating:

4/5

I've tried dozens of tires so I'll just post what I have now.

Track bitch/Garage queen/Weekend car

Brand/Model: BF Goodrich G-force R1

Size: 265/35-18

Performance Category: DOT Slicks

Treadwear: 40

Cost: $1,000

Your Impression: Very sticky, extremely hard sidewalls, great for track excursions

Pros:
1)Very sticky
2) Extremely hard and durable sidewalls
3) Great for track excursions
4) Cheaper than R Compound street tires
5) Longer lasting than Hoosier R6 (main competition)

Cons:
1) Still a lot of money for tires
2) Sticky enough to pick up everything they touch and throw it at your car
3) Not even close to reasonable for a daily driver
4) I assume horrible in the rain but haven't tried lol

Overall Rating: 5 (for what I use them for)

Daily Driver:

Brand/Model: Falken Azenis RT-615

Size
: 225/50/16

Performance Category:
Ultra high performance summer

Treadwear:
200

Cost: $90/tire

Your Impression:
Really good grip per treadwear and great bang for the buck

Pros:
1) Best bang for the buck ultra high performance summer tire
2) Good treadwear
3) Excellent grip
4) Great for spirited street driving
6) Good in the rain considering the grip available in the dry

Cons:
1) Not ideal track tires. The will get mushy and slippery feeling when pushed past their heat tolerance
2) Directional tread forces a dismount and remount to properly rotate

Overall Rating:
4

The best competition is the BFG Gforce KD which I think is a slightly better performing tire but also more expensive and doesn't quite last as long

Brand/Model: Cooper Zeon ZPT

Size:205/50/R15

Performance Category: Ultra high performance

Treadwear:

Cost:89each

Your Impression:I like this tire a lot over the Kumho tire i was running before that was 205/55.i have really stiff suspension and i dont feel the sidewalls flex when i take corners anymore like the kumho's did. And they dont make that roaring sound when i hang corners either.

Pros:no noise. good grip doesn't bark 3rd anymore. feels stiffer in the corners. wasn't all over the road in the rain.

Cons:don't know for sure yet only owned them for a few days.

Overall Rating: 4

EDIT let me drive on them for a lil while longer and i may update the pros and cons.

cheap bastard
wow! brought back from the dead and it still lives!

Brand/Model: Dunlop FM901

Size: 235/40/17

Performance Category: Ultra high performance summer

Treadwear: 200 A A

Cost: Discontinued and hard to find....maybe about $150/tire

Your Impression: First of all, I have a much wider tire than what is recommended for the tegs (I think 205's or 215's is usually about the max) so grip and stability would naturally be phenominal. In turns, they grip and do not feel like they want to let up unless you get stupid and try to do things that defy the laws of physics. On the street, they are a bit too much (can't justify the quick tredwear for daily driving) and a little noisy but that doesn't bother me. On the track, they grip and give you a sense of confidence when entering and exiting turns. I've also had them out on the drag strip and they did OK for what they are but it is not their strong point.

Pros:
Great grip and excellent stability at high speed cornering
Worth the quick treadwear life

Cons:
Don't like oil or water or any kind of liquid on the driving surface
Not a good choice for a daily driver on a budget
Never had them in the snow, but I'm almost positive they would suck

Overall Rating: 5/5 if you're after performance track tire, 4/5 if you're looking for a good daily driver tire

What brand/model are the tires?

TeggyBear_Ls

90 EF LS/V 95 DC4
Car: 99 Jetta VR6

Brand/Model: Falken Ziex 912

Size: 205/50/R15 H

Performance Category: All Season "Performance"

Treadwear: Don't Know

Cost: $340 for all Four

Your Impression: When I first got them, they didn't have too good of traction, but after driving for a few days, the tires started to break in and they stick very excellent for an all-season street tire on a torque-rich car.

Pros: Very decent Dry Traction, and good Wet traction as well.

Cons: Don't grip as good as I wish, but that's not the tire's fault.

Overall Rating: (1-5) 1=sucks ass 5=FTMFW!

Car: 95 Integra LS Turbo

Brand/Model: Kuhmo AST

Size: 205/50/R16

Performance Category: Ultra-High Performance All-Season

Treadwear: Not sure

Cost: $200 installed for Two /w alignment

Your Impression: Very sticky compared to old tires. Front end corners much better. I get tire chirps from rear end while cornering because the front tires grip so well.

Pros: Very good grip compared to previous Goodyears. Excellent Wet driving ability as well.

Cons: None

Overall Rating: (1-5) 1=sucks ass 5=FTMFW!

Pros: They were Free from a buddy, dunno actuall costs... Cornering traction is GREATLY improved! Have yet to test traction in rain.

Cons: Drag traction is somewhat limited compared to my Kuhmo AST & Fuzion ZRi combo.

Overall Rating: (1-5) 1=sucks ass 5=FTMFW!

CORNER CARVER
Brand/Model: Bridgestone RE-11

Size: 205/50/15

Performance Category: Extreme Summer Tire

Treadwear: 180AA

Cost: 120/tire

Your Impression: very nice tire... extremely good grip and better designed than the old RE01R. Have yet to take it autox/circuit racing but on the street it handles far better than the Kuhmo AST's that i had previously.

Pros: extremely sticky, good treadwear for performance

Cons: expensive for a 15" tire, takes a little bit of getting used to

Overall Rating: (1-5) 4.5

JDMxDB8

Raceline USA
Brand/Model: Toyo Proxes RA1

Size: 225/45/15

Performance Category: R-Compound

Treadwear: 100

Cost: $100/tire

Your Impression: These being my very first set of r-compound tires, I was very excited to see how they would perform on the track. And I must say that these are amazing. They take a about 2 laps (one warm up and one hot lap) to get up to full operating temperature. Once heated up, these tires will become very sticky. Since the RA1 is a DOT Approved r-compound, you can use these on the street. They are a little loud, but still streetable. I'm sure going to miss these tires once I wear these out and go back to street tires.

Pros:
1. Affordable
2. DOT Approved
3. Very sticky

Cons:
1. 100 treadwear
2. Maybe be too expensive for some people
3. Loud when used on the street/highway

Overall Rating:

4/5

Brand/Model: Falken Ziez ZE 512

Size: 205/40-17

Performance Category: All season high performance

Treadwear: 360

Cost: $74/tire

Your Impression: These tires already came on the SSR's I bought and they were stretched a little bit. There are not high performance tires by any means. They are pretty decent for highway comuting but that's probably about it. I haven't pushed this tires like I did BFG KDW's so not sure where the performance threshold lies. If you just need a highway comuter tire then this may be it if the price is good compared to other tires you may be looking for. I have put about 5-8k miles on the tire since I got them.

Pros:
1. Rim protection ridge that helps shield custom wheels
2. Quiet/confortable
3. Cheap
4. Treadware

Cons:
1. Performance
2. Snow rating/review horrible (if applicable)
3. Stretched tires dangerous?

Overall Rating:

3/5
