overheating problem

Just bought a 97 ls and it has an overheating problem. Temp gauge goes hot then cold then back to hot. I just replaced the t-stat and I'm still having the same problem. Both fans also kick on. What else could be the problem?

What are you doing when you overheat? How long have you been driving before it starts overheating? Are you driving the car in a mild manner?

Just standard driving. Very mild. Not really going over 50mph. I'm driving for about 5mins before it starts getting hot.

air in the coolant system. make sure you burp it well. Could also be a bad coolant sensor or blown head gasket.

Bleed it. Its free. Then bleed it again.
