I would rather purchase a motor and trans for 3k that risking buying one locally but that's me we do get what we pay for

Not true lol. Japanese motors have less miles and usually less abuse.

It isn't hoping. It is actually a law. Japanese motors have to get yanked at a certain mileage(because of strict inspection system) or pay ridiculous fees.
