Which engine would you choose?

I've heard bad things about tiger, but i have also heard stories about hmo. I'm just planning ahead so i am not rushing to buy an engine when the time comes. Which company would you prefer to order from? Also what else would i need to buy that is not included in these listings?

I just bought a GSR swap with trans for $800 locally. Was perfectly healthy working condition. I am building it for boost for a friend of mine. Have you looked at craigslist for GSR swaps?

Yeah, and they are kind of around the same prices.... $2600+

I'll buy your gsr swap for $800 lol!

The LS b18b go for around $5-600

If you are just looking for a GSR engine then buy one already in the states. No sense buying a $1000 swap and paying $1600 more for someone to get it and ship it across an ocean.

Where tf should i be looking? i looked on craigslist and some local spots and they are all about 3 grand? I'd like to know where you guys are buying your engines..plus are the engines you have under 100k?

You can buy a whole working 175xxx miles GSR in okay shape for 2500 near me.
They dont grow on trees so be patient.
Also check local car forums, people like to not finish projects and will sell stuff cheap to get it out of their garage. Go to some meets in your area and start talking to people, you never know who you will meet and what connections they will have.
I met a guy that is a parts distributor for Bilstein USA and has offered to get me parts just above cost.

I have a 1.6L Miata, I can get engines for $400.
Hell, I've seen a guy selling 2 non running engines with the ability to easily make a running engine for $300.

Well, i kinda like bought a shell yesterday and it comes with everything but an engine soo...and if i come across a gsr engine in the states under 2600 then i will most likely buy it. but like i said, im in no rush to buy just yet since i have to sell my auto teg first(which won't be until March-ish) and i made this post so that way i don't rush into things at the last minute. 175xxx sounds nice and all, but i'd rather have something under 100k

There's a guy local to me that posted a poor mans type R for sale for $500, I remember seeing a b16 for $1k also.

I would never pay that much for an engine!

And like I said I got a full GSR swap for $800. Hell if it wasn't already taken apart Id resell it to you for $2500 and deliver it to your house. My point is, KEEP LOOKING.

Well, thats technically not a poor mans type r..in fact that set up would make less power than a stock gsr. But for 500 I would buy it just to build it...personally.
