turbo rebuild question

okay so yesterday me and my friend took the teggy out for a drive and whenever the turbo would kick in white smoke would come out like crazy so we took it back to the garage popped the hood and the turbine has alot of play in it so now the question is, is it easy to rebuild a garrett t3 t4 or should i send it out and if i should whats a good but fair priced place to send it to?

i mean its not hard to take apart a turbo...i dont have specs on how to "rebuild one" though

White smoke would necessarily indicate the need for a rebuild. When the seals in a turbo crap out, it usually pours blueish/black smoke due to oil consumption

well the motor is all good and the turbine has play in it so i think thats what the problem is

nope

i would send it off to get rebuilt since its a garrett. its super important to have the wheels balanced on the shaft. on an ebay turbo, i would say just mark it with a sharpie and put them back on the same place.
