Help, maintenance required light, why?

its reminding you to change oil soon. when its steady, its time.

to reset, hold the button under the drivers side lower dash panel, turn the car to ON position (do not start), keep holding and a few seconds itll turn off.

the odometer takes note on how far you go and reminds you, i think, every 3000 miles or something.

The light runs on pre-determined settings. The new vehicles actually have senors to let you know the oil life in % form. Older cars are not that smart. It started blinking at startup to go hey get ready and when its steady it is time. Dont listen to it.

are you sure? im pretty sure mine was always coming on around 3k...cause thats how often i change oil...maybe i just dont think about resettin it half the time. haha

Everytime you do an oil change, you're supposed to reset it... for the people that changed the oil without resetting it, that's why it randomly started flashing within 2k.

5k / flash (Reminder)
7.5k / solid (Change oil now!)

You must reset it by pressing the button underneath the dash under the steering wheel.
Take a look and it's there.

You must hold it to reset it every oil change.
