Dirty radiator cap?

Ok so my radiator cap gets this brown crap all caked up on it. What could be causing this? Ill end up buying a new radiator probably soon but I wanna know what this is. I clean it off everytime and it just keeps coming back. My dad said it could be like a leak stopper or something. What else could it be?

sounds like your getting oil in your coolant...

could also be "stop leak" like you said or just old coolant or rust, id flush the radiator before you do anything to see if it comes back or not

if it still does it, you might have a bad head gasket, do a compression test to find out

flush it out with a cleaner you can get at the part store for 5.00 and then check it later time to see if it is still doing it

mine did this, was it a light brown? almost tan?
i did have a blown head gasket though.
so flush it, check it later, if it comes back, get a compression check
