I had my timing belt snap on the freeway a few years ago and the damage has gotten worse. Cylinder 1, the mechanic called a dead cylinder. Where is the best place to go for a replacement 2000 Integra LS engine?

depending on the condition of the car, it might be cheapest to just buy a new car. get a leakdown test and a compression test. the leakdown test will see if valves are bent, the compression test will tell you the health of the bottom end of the engine (cylinders and pistons). im sure your valves are bent on cylinder 1 and you might have low compression because of additional wear from it not working

you will most likely need to have the head rebuilt and the block/cylinders inspected for damage. worst case is the engine is completely ruined and you need a new one. guessing on prices, engines you can get for around $1500-$2000 depending on the type, condition, and what comes with it. then with the shop fees you could be looking at a bill of somewhere around $3000.

if you just need some valves replaced it could be a lot less cheap, closer to maybe $500-$800 to get the head rebuilt.

going around to different shops and getting quotes can give you a better ballpark
