when i accelerate and my hand is on the shift knob i can feel the shifter moving what could be the problem?

That happens when the shifter is attached directly to the side of an engine, engine twists, shifter moves.
Your motor mounts could need replacing but even good motor mounts won't completely eliminate it from doing that.
So in other words: check motor mounts, if they're fine don't worry about it.
