Default First Integra GSR

Hello everyone just wanted to introduce myself in this forum. I have been around this forum for a week or two. I was planning on buying a GSR and got me one last Friday. Its a 97 GSR mostly stock, and I am loving every bit of it. Love the fact that the redline is at 8. And the noise of the engine is just superb hehe. Anyways I just did the oil change and I was wondering if there is anything else i need to check on it. It does need work on the hood I bought it with chunks of paint on the hood missing I guess the previous owner did a band job painting it, I have started to sand it and applying bondo on it, Sounds pretty easy but a very hectic job. Do you guys have any suggestion on how to repaint? I did buy some primer too.

Here are the pics.

Trying to fix the hood...fail lol

Welcome to CI. Avoid bondo at all costs IMO. And as said above, pictures please!

Why should I avoid it? I already put some on it . This is how the hood looked before i tried working on it.

I can't really tell what's going on. It's a cheap alternative to proper body work, IMO. I'm not trying to discourage you, by all means go for it, but just make sure you do it properly the first time, cause that stuff is mess to try and fix later. By the way, your teg is a great building block for you to start with, props dude!

Edit: I'd take the hood off to work on it too, it's nice and easy and it might save you some of the mess you seem to be dealing with everywhere.

I wouldn't have used Bondo on a hood period. It flexes too much and will eventually crack. I would have replaced it with a mint one from a junkyard. Cheap fix.

Yea thats what I am planning on doing now. There is a junk yard that' selling one for 120$ i think but its silver(Do i need to strip down the paint inorder to paint it black again?). Maybe I will stop by later to take a look at it. This bondo job is kind of a pain in the a**. I did find another GSR body was very good but the guy did some I/H/E on it and it kind of looked sketchy so I decided to pull the trigger on this one. Its bone stock right now. What do you guys suggest i start with? After the hood lol. Thanks

You don't need to strip the paint completely, just wash it, sand it using proper methods and tools and you'll have a good surface to prime and paint. As for upgrades, it really depends on what YOU'RE going for, ie. daily driver, tracking, etc.

Well start small, and go big from there. Do some routine maintanence to start, what's the point of modding something that doesn't run tip top right?

Avoid bondo for the simple fact that its difficult to work and make right if your not good at body work. but looks good other then that

Yea I just changed the oil and flushed the radiator more to come. Yea I just realized how hard it is to work with bondo. There always will be some holes here and there. hehe But i am planning to put on a header whick i might get from a friends eg. He just upgraded to turbo so was asking me if I need it.

one piece of bad info about body filler and everyone is against it. just use it as thin as possible, mix it correctly and prep the surface before and after, and before any primer goes on. when people bad talk filler, either they had a bad experience with it, or read a horror story about it.

clean dc2 man, keep her safe.

Thanks, she did come with alarm, autostart and what not but the key fob's display is busted so all I can use now is the door locks. Even though I see a valet switch and all that I dont know if they are connected. I did read some article about how they are the most stolen car kind of freaked me out.
