Ok here's an interesting one for you... and yes I've read most of this forum's VSS and speedometer issue posts.
I have a 1998 Integra with an automatic transmission (don't start, the car was free!). Here are all of the symptoms that happened at the same time that are presumably related to the failure.
Shift Interlock doesn't work
Check Engine Light On
Erratic/Nonfunctioning Speedometer
Sometimes sluggish transmission (doesn't always downshift into 1st and sometimes doesn't upshift)
When I press on the brake pedal, the speedometer shows a higher speed
When I press on the gas pedal (in Park), the speedometer shows a higher speed
So from the previous posts most of these symptoms relate to the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), but what about the shift interlock? Can a failed VSS cause that to fail too?
Thanks for your help.
