Default HELP. My 94 civic B18B1 tranny is....oh god.

I really don't know much about this car, but I'm ok with cars. I'm not a total newbie, but in terms of this car...I have no idea. I bought it from some drugged out guy who was selling it for a grand back home in Seattle. Since then I've replaced...a lot. Drive axle, tires, etc... Today I was on my way to school to take a final and when I pushed in the clutch to stop (I was in 4th) the entire car shuddered and a giant rattling sound started knocking the stick around (manual tranny). The transmission is basically un-useable. If I push and hold the stick all the way up to the upper gears (1st, 3rd, and 5th) I can still kinda drive...but I still hear the rattling and something is hanging down from the bottom of the car, so I'm hesitant about using it. I don't want to break the car for good. The piece hanging down looks like a rod with a large circle at the end. Like its suppose to fit over something. I can send pictures of the piece hanging down via email or phone in canada, but I have no idea how to fix this or upload pictures. And its my daily driver...so I need help fast. I'm currently located in Kelowna, BC. If you know anyone in the area who's good, that would also be great too. If you need more info, I'll be happy to provide. Thanks!

your shift linkage fell it sounds like the rod with the large circle piece bolts to the transmission with a12mm bolt. i would inspect the shift linkage for damage.

It might be. The bottom was on the ground for a while, so the linkage (if that's what it is) is ground down on the bottom. How do I fix it? Get some new bolts/linkage? Duct tape? Haha. Or is this less of a DIY job?

I was told it is in fact the linkage by one of my buddies. So now I just need to fix it.

jack up the car, look at it. there is a prong on the transmission, next to the other piece of the linkage, get a boltt, washer and screw it back in.

it is a "special washer" which fits in the bushing but i assume any other washer will fit as well.

What's special about the washer? And where could I find one if I wanted to replace it later?
