3rd brake light problem.

so when i bought my 93 DA it didnt have a 3rd brake light assembly at all. the rear windshield was empty. well after having the car for bout 10 months now, ive finally started gettin pulled over for not having a 3rd brake light. pulled one from the junk yard, hooked it up and yet it doesnt work. come to find out someone cut the wires that run to the light... where should i run new wires to?

Can't you jack in to the tails? And is it illegal to not have a third brake light? I've never heard that, thought as long as you have rear facing red tails that show braking you were good.

Every motor vehicle and every trailer or semitrailer being drawn at the end of one or more other vehicles shall carry at the rear two red lights plainly visible in clear weather from a distance of 500 feet to the rear of such vehicle.

yea i am going to end up splicing it in with one of the brake lights. i did find this VA law tho bout 3rd brake lights...
"Whenever operated on the highways, every Virginia-registered passenger car manufactured for the 1986 or subsequent model year shall be equipped with a supplemental center high mount stop light"
