brake piston

Okay, so I'm trying to replace my back brakes, I've been messing qith the piston for an hour now, it goes out, but when I try to put it back in, it goes in then will keep spinning, there is not enough room for the outer brake pad to fit. What am I doing wrong? This hasn't happened when I've worked on other cars,

Okay, thanks, the piston comes out, but the caliper seems to not move in or out, was hoping that wasn't it, ha, thankyou, you've saved me numerous hours,

You gotta compress the piston in to the caliper before you can get the caliper and new pads back on the rotor, a C clamp is what I use. Just make sure you don't have fluid coming out of the resivior.
