don't know what's wrong

ok so my car wont start... it cranks and as soon as i let the key of from the cranking position back to its normal spot the car turns off. please help me with any tips or solutions... the car is a 1990 ls

I know what your referring to. I would have to say the ignition switch is bad.

it cranks meaning it turns on like normal just shuts off as soon as you let the key off the cranking position. and im pretty sure it the ignition switch i just wanted to see if the was anything else that could cause this. i just cant find any how to posts on installing a new one.
