tap USB cable to back of cigarette lighter

Is this a possibility? I have an old Galaxy phone that is hidden in the back of my console, but I have to plug it into the front of the cigarette lighter to charge it. It looks tacky to have it running from the from to the back where it's hidden. (not too hidden when the cable is going toward the phone). Anyway, I'd like to tap a micro usb cable into the back of the cigarette lighter. Is this possible without breaking my electrical?

strip the wire and find the power and ground wires and tap them to the power and ground of whatever power and ground you want to.

yup its that easy. most of the wires are for data connection you only really need two.

yeah you need a resistor? something to lower the voltage so you don't burn your car down. but yeah its pretty easy, especially if your just charging the phone. find your power wire, lower the voltage to 5v and splice in the usb cable and ground and your good to go, electrical stuff is pretty simple in these cars.
