So i've been running into a strange phenomenon with my 96 SE Hatch. As the fuel level heads towards empty, whenever i leave the car for awhile, it takes longer and longer to start. When it gets to below a quarter of a tank, near empty, it will crank for nearly 6-10s before starting but yet when the tank is near full it starts instantly. Another thing that is probably related, when i go to fill up and the tank is empty, theres a massive release of vacuum pressure that comes from the tank when i remove the gas cap.
I've since replaced the fuel tank sending unit with new pump and strainer, gas cap, the fuel lines, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator with no change. Any one have any ideas on how to fix this?
