If I could suggest something? Use superbike bars instead of clip ons. Still lower than stock, but let’s you sit up enough to not eat uncomfortable.

That’s what I had put on my KZ440 the first hour I had it home [emoji23]

Still need to get back to that bike at some point...

I have 3.

2003 Buell Firebolt which went through a full restoration and lives IN the house [emoji23]

1981 Honda Super Cub/Passport, 125 swapped currently.

And the 1982 KZ440. Was gonna be a brat/tracker project, but being 30+ years old had tons of issues, so I bought my Buell.... which had tons of issues

Alright, so with an fxdx, or an early 2000’s Super Glide/Low rider in the potential future, I need a parts list.

Keep it cheapish, I’m already looking at $250 for the T-bars (Going with Wild1 ten inch Flatlines) and probably another $200 for extended cables.

The Road Warrior, or Arlen ness fairing (whichever I decide) will have to come later, as will the thunderheader. I’m thinking things like non-harley brand grips and levers, under mounted mirrors... some things I could get with like $500 just to help it look like more than a bone stock dyna with T-bars [emoji23]

I might temporarily put a cheap krator fairing on it, kinda like the stock FXDLS fairing.

These are the bars on a street bob.

http://a.co/d/2K9Tqz0 This looks pretty damn close to the stock fairing

Mirrors, just flip the stock ones

That's what HD did with the Sportster 48 after seeing owners of other Sporty models do it themselves. Yay for lazy R&D lol

Grips, go with Biltwell. https://www.biltwellinc.com/c11/buy/grips/

Levers from Throttle Addiction: https://www.throttleaddiction.com/lever-set-drilled-sportster-96-03-big-twin-96-06-black/#gallery-1

Bars, if you don't mind a slight pullback, Throttle Addiction also makes T-bars in both 8in and 11in rise for $100.

You're on your own for cables though

Sweet. I might consider those bars instead, I’m not too particular on them being flatline style or having a slight pullback.

Currently the 3 prospects are these

My first choice because it’s bone stock, it’s the cheapest, and it only has 13k on it. The 2000 FXDX

Second choice is this 06 street bob with 23k

And 3rd choice is a 99 low rider, and the reason it’s my last choice is because it has 32k on it which means it VERY likely needs timing chain tensioners because that’s where the plastic pads are said to start breaking down.

Something to consider: the FXDX is carbureted and 5 speed vs the Street Bob having EFI and a 6th gear.... But the FXDX has twin disc brakes up front and cast wheels (I hate spokes with a passion [emoji23] )

That would be a no [emoji23]

The street bob is definitely being considered, but I have a soft spot for the fxdx, and the carb situation isn’t too bad, I don’t mind a carb as long as I can get straight to it. That means I don’t have to get a fuelpak for a new exhaust.

Hopefully there will be more options when I’ve got the cash in hand, but I do really like the look of the fxdx, I just don’t love that it’s 5 hours away.

Lemme rephrase that... the fxdx looks more appealing from a mechanical standpoint... it’s ugly as hell [emoji23] but it wouldn’t take much to fix that.
