brake dust shield necessary?

the front brake dust shield just rattles. Do I need the dust shields? what's the pros and cons of not having them?

I'd imagine your wheels/joints/bushings would get filthy. Mine are getting that way a few days after a clean even with shields on

You technically need them. They protect other parts from heat and dust. I retained mine on my race car. I do not think they are necessary.

It is actually to funnel the air towards your rotors to help cool them off. That being said I do not have them on my racecar.

you could just try to bend them a little bit or tighten the bolts that hold them in place
if i remember correctly they are aluminum or something can easily get bent and cause annoying noise just bend it gently back away from whatever its making contact with
