DC sports headers and smog? SoCal

Alright so when I bought my car it came with DC sports headers installed. (Also gave me the stock intake manifold.)

I've heard these are street legal in California so will I have trouble passing smog with them? Car is bone stock & previous owner told me he had a guy who would pass him with no extra charge with the headers on.

My question: Will I be able to find a shop that will pass it with the headers without paying under the table? Or will it instantly fail the visual inspection no matter what?

If you have the carb legal sticker and you show it to the smog person you should be fine . Find better luck with shops that are not expensive vs shops that are nice and new looking they tend to go by the books .

You'll be fine passing the visual inspection portion of the test. As long as the CARB # plate is welded on the primary of the header, you wont be hassled.

The actual emissions test may or may not give you trouble with that DC header. My previous 94 GSR passed without issue running a DC 4-2-1. My current 98 GSR gave me a headache for some odd reason until I reinstalled the OEM air box and exhaust manifold. Daily it runs an AEM CAI and DC 4-1. Both passed visual inspection fine though.

your dc headers has the stamp # welded onto it ? Is this just for gsr dc headers or all ? Mine came with its own sticker stamp .

From what I remember DC will have a small plate welded to the top of the header on one of the pipes just before the first bend.
I used to have a DC 4-1 and the plate was on the right most pipe.
Never heard of a header coming with a carb sticker, seems dumb since it will burn off in the first 5 minutes of use.

The sticker goes somewhere visible in the engine bay. Mine is on the underside of the hood. No carb number is on my header alone.

They were on all the headers I remebered. Not sure of more recently produced headers. My header is at least 9 years old.

Update: Passed smog with the DC headers on. BARELY. Valve cover gasket & tube seals were SHOT though. Sparkplugs were drenched in oil at the time. Just finished replacing the valve cover gasket, tube seals, spark plugs and spark plug wires. Also my new AEM intake comes in tomorrow.

And yes it had the carb # on the welded plate.
