Your Impression: Hmmmmmmm... I wonder if this will work...

Pros: a lot more silent. Feels better while accelerating.

- sucks in air routed from the front bumper
- Makes the engine very quite.
- easy to clean air filter, + its bigger.

I ♥ My Integra
Name of intake: Password:JDM Dry Carbon Fiber PowerChamber with Password:JDM Dry Carbon Fiber Velocity Stack

Cost: Around $250-270 includes intake and velocity stack and 6" filter

Year/Model of car: 2001 Integra GSR

Brief Summary:
-"Dry" carbon fiber is super light approx 0.2kg.
-Best sounding intake at WOT one of the deepest growling engine i have heard from a honda and Vtec sounds insane especially if i run the velocity stack by itself with no filter.
-so loud and deep it makes some parts of my dash vibrate and rattle. cant even really hear my exhaust either (Trust 1st Gen catback)

Pros:
-good mid to top end power. sexy look and sound.

Cons:
-Some strut tower bars wont clear this intake unless you get pwjdm 3pt (go figure) i had to get rid of my neuspeed strut bar because the intake is so damn big !
-price but all pwjdm shit is expensive.
-it took alot of work to get the velocity stack to fit right had to trim/grind some of the intake and then had to seal it up with black rtv took about an 1hr-1hr 30min.

The Panch

The Homie
Name of intake: AEM COLD AIR INTAKE V2

Cost: $100 Craiglist used

Year/Model of car: 1994 LS

Brief Summary:
It actually was on the guys type r. So i had to bend Ac lines. And i installed from bottom up. (MUCH EASIER)
I just bought the car and not much later got this. So i didn't get time to get a feel for the car to give you an fair before and after

Pros:
-Sounds great
-Looks great
-Fairly simple to install

Cons:
-Honestly it might just be me..but i didn't notice a power difference.
(might be bcuz i had to use that coupler..tho NO AIR is escaping or being drawn in from that area. Sealed perfectly)
-Hydrolock

Intake: eBay 3" Short Ram Intake + K&N 3" Cone Filter

Cost:
  • Intake - $30
  • K&N Filter - $40
Year/Model/Motor: 1995 Acura Integra GSR B18C1

Your Impression:
  • Shiny
  • Simple
  • Filter felt cheap
  • Lightweight
  • Seemed like good quality
  • Knew the job would get done
Pros:
  • Simple
  • Easy Install
  • No hydrolock
  • Noticable Gains
  • Loud VTEC engagement :p
  • "Breathes" Better
  • Deep sound at WOT
  • Easy to remove
  • Can clean filter
Cons:
  • Heat Soak
  • Filter is exposed
  • Slight annoying whistling noise
Impression:
This was my first performance mod. The deep sound at WOT and loud VTEC made me think I gained a few ponies, although I think it's psychological. My rear motor mount was bad, so I don't really know if I got better throttle response since the engine would constantly flex when I would accelerate. Cheap and easy first mod, I'm happy with it. When I got the K&N Filter, it definitely made WOT deeper..that's all I noticed. LOL

Overall Rating: 3

Name of intake:
eBay $40 "Insys usa" Blue SRI

Cost:
$40

Year/Model/Motor:
94 B18b

Your Impression:
For $40, you can't really go wrong. It showed a noticeable improvement in throttle response, and makes my exhaust sound a little throatier. I also like the whistle @2400 rpms.

Pros:
Cheap
Showed improvement in performance
Easy to install
Washable filter

Cons:
No CARB sticker
Cheap mounting hardware
Could have a better filter :D

Overall Rating: 3.8

(planning on getting a better filter soon)
