Speedometer goes all the way around like a clock.

I have a 1990 Integra RS, 5MT. I had to remove the dash to replace the heater core. In the process of removing the instrument cluster, I pulled the end off of the speedo cable where it attaches to the Speedometer. It was fairly rusty anyway, so I replaced the cable. Now I have everything back together & running, but my speedometer goes round & round like a clock. Any thoughts on the problem. Do I need a new speedo? Keep in mind, this is a mechanical speedometer, not electronic.

WOW - 142 views to date and not a single comment. This must be an interesting topic, so I decided to disassemble the instrument cluster to see if I could determine the root cause of the problem. Once I had the speedo head out, I quickly saw the issue. The tension-spring had come unraveled and is wrapped around the "needle shaft." There's a great YouTube video that explains in painful detail. how this all works. Click here> Speedo
I wasn't, however, able to determine why this occurred. So, a replacement unit is on the way. See attached pictures for an explanation.
