1990 integra da gs code 12 egr sytem problems

So i recently got myself into a situation where i have no money fix my car and not in a good enough condition to be sold. So i havent really been able to drive around as much because after a few miles my check engine light comes on and it idles really bad so it kinda makes me not want to drive it more. It also gives rough idles when i turn it off where i have to raise the rpms because if i dont it'll drop till it stalls.


Well anyways i got a code 12 which states i have a bad egr system. But i drive a standard 1990 gs in which it wasnt made with an egr valve, if you guys have any tips on what to check. I was told to check the air idle control valve (iacv) and the air boost valve. Is there any suggestions or experiences where this was fixed? If any i'd really appreciate the feedback. Thanks alot

you may want to also post this issue @ g2ic.com... there's a couple guys over there that are aces with diagnosing G2 integra codes... post in the engine section.
