95 gsr tranny help!!

OK so i just got a 95 gsr, and it runs great! needs motor mounts, and an axle maybe both. any ways the guy i bought it from said the tranny fluid was really dirty. heres my problem, i can shift from 1st to 2nd fine, but cant shift from 3rd to 2nd. it feels like there is a wall, it doesnt grind. when the car is off it goes into gears perfectly. could this be because of the fluid? axle? i know i need to fix the problems listed above, but whats your guys' take on this?

the fluid hasnt been changed yet, will be doing that next weekend. just wondering if its not the fluid what it could be

shift lock? and change the fluid asap.

also another thing, the axles are popping, will an em1 axle fit my dc2? if not then bleh
