Dirt track isn't for everyone that is for sure. First time I ever went my asshole buddy failed to mention the fact that I needed to take goggles with me just to watch. I had my back turned to the track the entire time. Im just not that into turning left so damn much lol

i could use the gsr transmission, but the ratio is way too short for me. i do both asphalt and dirt. i <3 left turns

Without building a ls vtec or doing crowed cams you can't you would be just be reving for nothing

i think you guys dont understand what im trying to do.... im racing oval track, so im in second gear, unable to use or shift to 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th gear in race. strictly 2nd gear. i need more top end speed, and im already on 215 tires, so i need to raise my redline. im not woried about the power i make up top, just the rpm's i can squeze out somewhat safely, to increase my max speed in second gear. i am aware i will not be making much power

Build a hybrid tranny, use third from a b16 trans as your second
what an amazing idea.... ill have to go look up the gear ratios and calculate the change in speed, but it sounds like a great idea. if the ratio is right i may just use the b16 trans, but 3rd may be too tall.

the b16 2nd gear is to short and b16 3rd gear is too long, no matter which final gear i use. i will be sticking with a stock b18 trans, bumping the redline to around 7600

b18 final drive---4.266
b18 2nd gear(1.901), 6700 rpm-64
b18 2nd gear(1.901), 7300 rpm-69
b18 2nd gear(1.901), 7800 rpm-74

b16 2nd gear(2.105), 6700 rpm-59
b16 2nd gear(2.105), 7300 rpm-63
b16 2nd gear(2.105), 7800 rpm-67

b16 3rd gear(1.459), 6700 rpm-83
b16 3rd gear(1.459), 7300 rpm-90
b16 3rd gear(1.459), 7800 rpm-96

b16 final drive---4.400
b18 2nd gear(1.901), 6700 rpm-62
b18 2nd gear(1.901), 7300 rpm-66
b18 2nd gear(1.901), 7800 rpm-72

b16 2nd gear(2.105), 6700 rpm-56
b16 2nd gear(2.105), 7300 rpm-61
b16 2nd gear(2.105), 7800 rpm-65

b16 3rd gear(1.459), 6700 rpm-80
b16 3rd gear(1.459), 7300 rpm-87
b16 3rd gear(1.459), 7800 rpm-93

b18 looks perfect for me, i need to be hitting around 70-75 mph to get that extra little oomph at the end of the stretch.

It's a race motor now, it's not meant to have a long healthy life lol.

Are you going to run an oil cooler or a different oil pan? Something with baffles might help you.

Unless you upgrade the bottom end, don't spin it past 7200. Period. Or you'll be buying a new motor every race and be dq'd due to engine failure after 3laps. Trust me, I'm the king of blowing up motors. I've ruined 4 motors in the last year. I finally learned my lesson. I'd hate to see you learn the hard way like I did. Your motor, your choice. Just don't say I didn't warn you. Best of luck on your decision.
