Hi,
First time user and hope for some help. I was driving on the freeway yesterday. On exit there was a curve and after I accelerated in third gear (maybe 4500 rpm) I arrived at a stoplight with the engine dead. After popping the hood and the distributor cap, I saw the coil was burnt along with the contact point in my distributor cap. Had it towed home. Picked up a new coil and cap. Put them in and NOTHING. Would not start. Any Clues as to problem?

1. identify the source of the problem. check for fuel/spark.
2. check ecu/fuses/relays
3. if its the spark, try changing plugs and distributor.
4. if its no fuel, probly a relay or ecu.
5. make sure everything is perfectly in time
6.keep us updated!

Turned out to be some component in the distributor. Not the coil because I replaced that first and found I had spark to the coil but still would not fire up. It would crank over fine and was getting gas, just not ignition. I told "Tall Dave" at my parts supply (he wasn't working the day I bought the coil) and he said that since the I had replaced the distributor 2-3 months ago that he would give me a new one under warranty. Popped it in and it fired right up! Bingo! Thanks for your posts. Later....J
