car cutting out when driving

I have a 96 ls intwgra
after I start up the car, I will be driving it and once I hit 3k to 4k rpm, I can feel the car cut off its power for a sec then after 4k it picks back up. it feels like it does this after I start up the car but after it warms up it stops. I am curious why it's doing this, and want it to stop before it gets worsE. any ideas?

Is it throwing any codes? When is the last time you did a tune-up? Sounds like it's pulling timing or the timing is off. I have seen this problem in the past occur for two separate reasons.

1). Timing. Check your base timing, make sure it's 16 degrees +/- 2 degrees. Also make sure your intake and/or exhaust cam isn't off a tooth.

2). Injectors/fuel. Make sure your injectors are functioning properly and are the proper injectors for the engine.

It could be something else, but let's cross that bridge when we come to it. Let us know if there is a code first, before doing anything else.
