Car making grinding noise from engine bay?

My 1996 acura integra RS has just recently started making a light grinding noise while the car is running. you can mainly here it when idling. It also smells like gas in the engine bay but there is no visible gas leak...? HELP please!!!

is it grinding or is it a knocking noise?

is it grinding when you let the clutch out? If yes your transmission is starting to go out.

Gas evaporates super quick so finding a visible gas leak is hard. Pop the hood and manually rev the car by turning the throttle body cable. Keep an eye on your fuel filter as it can start to leak if not tightened enough.

you sure its a gas smell? cuz it could be a rusty heat shield. and the reason i ask if it is gas you smell is the fact that when i took the stock exhaust off my 96 ls i had a huge exhaust leak. just my .02

Mine is making that sound too... but no gas smells. I've tried to keep note of when it's happening but there doesn't seem to be a pattern... only when idling...
