Car won't go above 5K RPM's, need help!!!

ok a week ago my car shut down, needed a new distributor and crankshaft sensor. Got them both installed but now everytime my car hits 5 grand in each gear wont go above that it just keeps going bum bum bum when its hits 5g. One of my sensor came out...

that sensor came out and not sure what it is (thinking coolant temp sensor), but would that make my car run like that?

bum bum bum sounds like a rev limiter.

You need that sensor, your car is keeping you out of vtec. Get that fixed and you should be good.

Does the same thing when low on oil.

put back the sensor, and give it a go. if it still wont work check your oil level and vtec solenoid, could be dirty

that's your coolent temp sensor. your car thinks it's still cold so it won't go into vtec.

how did the sensor wires come off like that? did you try to pull it out without undoing the clip? that's probably going to be a pain in the ass to get back in.. you need a new harness and maybe sensor..

I suggest going to the junk yard, unclipping one the right way, cutting the wires as far away from the sensor as possible and re-soldering the new harness on. If you don't want to do that, take it to the dealership. they'll do it for ya
