Complete noob to working on cars and looking for some pointers...

I'm 18 and I just picked up my first car (a 1995 Integra RS). Because I am going to college for mechanical engineering, I was hoping to work on my car myself without having to go to a mechanic too often. However, I know close to nothing when it comes to working on cars. If anyone has some books, websites, etc to read to gain knowledge on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated!

Also, my alternator belt broke recently and I was wondering if I could replace it myself (probably yes), but I need to know what belt I need and if there are any specific tools or methods needed to replace it.

Thanks much!

One thing that I can tell you is. If you are wanting to do alot of your own maintence I would recommend buying a Chiltons manuel or Haynes manuel from your local parts store. The library is another good place to get the same material but for free.
