I have a '98 GSR when I bought the car the guy told me the computer was from a different car ,which I have forgot, but I do remember him saying it's a OBDI , and not the OBDII that came factory with the car.

My question is; Why swap to a OBDI ?

OBD1 is superior for tuning purposes. People switch to OBD1 because there is more options for tuning out there for that platform.

OBD1 is 92-95 and OBD2 is 96+.

If you tell us the numbers on the ECU we can tell you the make/model.

OBD2 is superior because when the CEL goes off, you can retrieve the code and it will tell you exactly what's wrong with the car. Unfortunately, you can't chip the OBD2 ECU as of yet so people dont like it. But chipping is pretty half-assed when compared to a standalone programmable ECU.
