Crank Gear Trouble

Just picked up a 95 ls with a bad motor. It came with a replacement block. Both motors are stamped b18b1 and both obd1. I go to tranfer over the crankshaft gear and pulley and they do not fit on the replacement block. Am I missing something? Looked through the posts, so apologizes if a repeat and thank you in advance.

theres a notch on the crank for the timing gear to go on.

Correct, the issue is the diameter on the inside of ther gear is smaller than that of the crankshaft. What gets me is they are both b18b1.

Is there a way to i.d the block, since I do not have the head from it?

Do either have sensors on oil pump? Any know sensor on the back of block? Is there a breather box?

Neither have a crank sensor on the pump and both have the opening for the breather box on the back side of the block. Only sensor on the back is the oil switch, no knock if thats what you mean.

I don't have exact measurements at the moment. I can take a mic to them tomorrow after work, but are very close.

If its close then its probably a manufacturing defect. You can lightly sand both diameters or put the gear in the freezer over night.
