do short throw shifters really work?

Been asking around to see if buying an aftermarket shirt throw shifter is worth is or not and I've been told yes and no. So I figured id try to see what y'all have to say

Stay away from eBay no name brands. Not safe at all.

Yep^ Heard of many of them snapping off.

Will the shifts be shorter? : yes

Do they work efficiently? : No

Why? : they wear out your synchros rather quickly, and most people say they miss gears or the gears don't fully engage.

Well I figured if I buy one that's for my Integra it shouldn't miss gears or not engage fully so I'm at a stand still so I'm thinking I'll just cut my stock one down and re weld it to make it shorter cuz to be honest I don't need to use a shorter shift to whoop ass on the street

They work but some have flaws they snap, syncros, or wont go into gear. I just prefer my shifter be short in height
