Exhaust Flaming Kits

I am slightly interested in having flames shoot out of the exhaust when you start the car up or when you shift. I have heard that you can buy, what is called a "exhaust flaming kit" offline.

My questions are, does this do any damage to the car its self? Do you use more gasoline? Is it street legal and any other information would be great!

we did this to my buddys SRT-4,

step 1 - make sure car is running rich as fuck
step 2 - punch out the cat so its just a straight pipe
step 3 - bounce off the rev limiter till you realize this isnt 2F2F

on a side note he was shooting 6 - 10 inch flames from the stock "dual" exhaust and damn near lit the shop door on fire.
