Extra attached pipe on stock intake?

Hey guys, I had to take my bumper off yesterday to clean the moisture from my headlights and in doing so I noticed an extra pipe coming from the stock intake.

I was just wondering if somebody knows why this pipe is attached when it seems to do nothing..

If you listen closely, while the car is running, you'll actually hear it pushing the air into the intake.


Just kidding... Probably a waste tube, heavy things that make it through the filter sometimes are caught in there
