i know some of you think i'm a nut when it comes to political issues. but now it's on paper, signed in by our dictator. and despite what you want to believe. we're done in. at any point in time, under the president, or secretary of defense's discretion, we can be pulled off the street, out of our car, out of our homes, wherever, and be locked in jail w/no trial for a time set by the same people that have put us in jail. dont believe me? seach for the military commissions act of 2006. here's the LINK

and here's just a cuple things out of it.

yea but read it carefully you have to be engaged in some sort of violent attck towards the united states! it does not state in your post that they are going to yank you out of your car for no reason. you must break the rules of engagement and basically surface fire against a policeman or whoever. it says that anyone in the militia (state guard) police, armed forces and any other position of protection sweared in by the us government can and will use their power to bring in the terrorist assilant.

you are correct. that is the point and reason. but the problem is, the way it is written there is a deadly loophole. which is you dont have to be tried for this. if these people at any point in time SAY that you have done such and such a thing, then your guilty and can be even tortured up the the point of retardation or death. i know the retardation part, but maybe it's some point before death. i forget exactly. the problem is not that this would help fight terrorism. the problem is the loophole. and more than once in america's history that sort of thing was quickly used for horrible reasons.

i dont complain agianst america and it's foundation. whether you see the problem in this or not now. you will later. i love america, and the citizens thereof. and i would love for the laws to be followed. but one by one we're losing them. and now if someone high enough up believes that you have done something in the terrorist mindset, they dont have to prove it. you dont have the right of a fair trial, no jury, no judge. just someone high enough up to say you did so and so and now your gonna spend 20 years in prison. why? because they say so. and that's it. once you lose the right to a trail, how do you prove that you did or didnt do something??

here's another article i found on this....
The Act has been denounced by critics who assert that its wording authorizes the permanent detention and torture (as defined by the Geneva Conventions) of anyone - including American citizens - based solely on the decision of the President.[16] Indeed, the wording of section 948b[17] of the act appears to explicitly contradict the Third Geneva Convention of which the United States is currently a signatory. One has described it as "the legalization of the José Padilla treatment" - referring to the American citizen who was declared an unlawful enemy combatant and then imprisoned for three years before finally being charged with a lesser crime than was originally alleged.[18] A legal brief filed on Padilla's behalf alleges that during this time he was subjected to sensory deprivation, sleep deprivation, and enforced stress positions.[19]

Amnesty International said that the Act "contravenes human rights principles."[20] An editorial in The New York Times described the Act as "a tyrannical law that will be ranked with the low points in American democracy, our generation’s version of the Alien and Sedition Acts."[21]

American Civil Liberties Union Executive Director Anthony D. Romero said, "The president can now, with the approval of Congress, indefinitely hold people without charge, take away protections against horrific abuse, put people on trial based on hearsay evidence, authorize trials that can sentence people to death based on testimony literally beaten out of witnesses, and slam shut the courthouse door for habeas petitions."

i dont say amerika will use this against its own ppl...but from what i understand its the beginning to more cover ups and political justification for corrupt acts...which has happened more than enough already...politics and media has ruined world peace for centuries...i say nobody make a vote during election and see how well ppl get on without a leader..lol

edit: oops i already voted TegSox 4 Prez...what are the reprecussions of this? most ppl dont think..

This Act pertains to the UCMJ and the Geneva Convention regarding the Laws of War. It is funny because we just got briefed about his not too long ago. It also helped that We had a JAG in our class. But what is used for is for those who do not fall under an organized milititia or Military. Those who dont have uniforms and those that who dont report to a government aka Mercinaries. In the past we didnt know what to do with them, since there was no regulation stateing what we could do with those that were "Unlawfull Combatants", so we had to let them go to fight another day. Now that we have this regulation we can capture those who attack our military troops and hold them untill it is safe for us to do so.
This regulation is to be applied to to the Law of War and not here in the states against its own citizens. We have rules that govern you and protect your rights so you will get a trial if you do plan on "Hostilities against the United States"

i understand that is what it was drafted in to help with. but you can read for yourself that it can easily be turned around on us at the decision of someone high enough up. more than once in our history have things like this passed through to be used to help the good of our nation and it's people, only to be abused quickly there after.

I dont think you do understand. This was not passed to be a pert of US law that is acted on its citizens. This is passed to be used in the theater of war. This was passed to give clarity to the Geneva Convention. Unless you are a military member you do not fall under the Geneva Convention.
I must not be understanding you all that well. From what I understand you saying is that they can turn this law on us, the US citizens. Am I right?
