You could just build your B18B with some cams, bolt ons and a tune and kill his VTEC B16. VTEC isn't some magical thing that makes you faster. Google non VTEC build and look around Honda Tech and nonVTEC.com HTH.
OP look at Crower, PLM (headers), DC Sports (headers) Skunk2, Edelbrock, Hondata, AEM Brian Crower. But like I said, just google non VTEC build on honda tech and you'll find thousands of set ups.
