So yeah people, let tell the truth here, how did you find yourself into the Sport/hobby/ import scene?

Me, in started when I was a kid! I loved Transformers and shit, so I always enjoyed the idea for cars be "more than meets the eye". Grew up around and uncle that worked on a drag team, so that where I learned to hate drag racing lol. But I got into more japanese cars, and building well balanced cars once I laid eyes apon Initial D, watched it once, b/c I'm into anime lol. But thats how found my love for the sport!

How bout you.......

I fell in love w/ the import scene when i was young about 9 or 10 when me and my mom took a trip to Honk Kong to visit her Family, and we also stoped in Japan to visit my cousins and in both places i saw just purly amazing cars. I remember thats when i first set my eyes on a Skyline and a Silvia, and i remember when i say my cousins Type-R Teggy thats when I knew what i was gonna have when i got older.

How I got into the import scene was of our 1988 Acura Integra.

It wasn't the most powerful car out there, nor the best looking but I love it. Back when I was younger my grandparents used to live in Ohio. We'd visit them in the summer and my mom got to drive my grandma's car, which was the '88 Integra. I got to sit shotgun and I thought that car was the best.

It sort of just grew from that. I started learning more about that car and Integra's in general, then I learned about Honda's and then the whole import scene. So basically it just evolved from our first gen. Another reason why that car will always run and be with us. It represents where it all started.

it all started when i had a 1998 honda accord ls, it was 4 dr, 5 speed, really nice burgandy interior on a white ext, one of the nicest box style accords i have seen around where i live so im going to say i had the nicest 88 around, well at the time i had friendsthat had mustangs and civics and stuff and i knew about the performance aspects of v8 mainly because my friend would be like yeah check out all this shit i can get for stang, right so we were all like yeah thats way cool and my buudy at the time had a 94 civic, pretty decent shape and he said he bought a intake for his car and i was like what? so he showed off his aem blue cai which he still has by the way... and i was like now thats bitching he told of a shop that does nothing but hondas and acuras and so went down and checked it out i was amased at exactly everything you could do to a honda so at the time i had my exhaust redone mainly because my muffler rusted through so i did a custom cat back on my accord and had them make a custom intake for my accord and it was at that point i was hooked later on down the road did i come across my teg and have loved her ever since..... :D

I've always had a fondness for tegs since I was younger and I'd look through one of my older brother's Import Tuners. After that, I'd go to the runs in Milpitas with my friends almost every weekend. Blah, blah, blah, had to focus on school and what not so I kind of left it at that. A few years ago when I moved up to Sac from the Bay Area, one of my older brothers got locked up for a while and I missed him. He had two teggies before, so I started looking into getting a teg while he was in there. When he got out, he'd usually be working on his cars in the garage, so I'd go out there and hang out with him to keep him company. After a while, he'd teach me little things, so it was pretty much a bonding experience. I got my feel for cars because of him.

Well it all spawned froim my friend Al, his first car was a 89 Sunbird, 4Cyl, it was dirt slow and knocked, he was like fuck this Four Cylinders Suck, im never buying one again. He then bought a 94 Z24, which wa sa blast, and we thought holy shit V6's Rock (as it was a lot faster than his auto Sunbird) then Need For Speed Underground came out. We played the old games a lot, so this one wa slike wow, these cars a re cool. We really got Into the RSX Type S, so he Blew up The Cavy, and Bought a 02 RSX Type S, and we fell in love, with the Car. I was looking for a Talon at the time, which im glad i never found it, cuz the 420A's are Really Slow, a Integra Went up for sale in my town, we checked it out, called em up, and bought the car. Now im gonna Retire the Teg in a year or so and buy a RSX Type S.

I actually grew up playing with toy cars and stuff but really had no interest at a really young age until my dad got me into muscle cars, I got into Corvettes, Trans Ams and Cobras etc..I saw integras on the road and started reading magazines and getting on forums once I became of age to drive and found that I liked Integras..a lot! And then I got into the whole import scene period and currently love jdm hondas, hondas are my favorite, jdm only, ricers and idiots can go home. I respect the muscle cars and love corvettes etc, but other than that, its hondas for me! Second to that, I would have to say is BMW and Audi. But I am a car enthusiast period and love the whole scene but am a proud jdm honda fan. I take pride in my integra and what I do and talk about with other enthusiasts.

It was'nt till '97 when I got into the scene. My best freind at the time had bought a '89 CR-X and it was cherry, totally unmolested. I loved it and wanted 1 as soon as I rode in it. But at the time only being 17 my mom was'nt feelin' the Rex at all. Not that she could have bought it cause my parents were'nt loaded unfortunatly. But I needed a co-signer and my pop's lived god knows where so I was screwed and ended up w/a '89 Celica GT-S. Did a few things 2 it but was limited w/hardly any aftermarket parts 4 it. So traded it in 4 a '97 Civic EX in '00. After that it was like an addiction 2 hook it up. 2 different sets of rims, cat-bac,cold-air,stg.2 clutch, short throw, headers, Z-3 fenders,Black Widow 2 hood w/Sparco hood pins, Eibach 1 3/4 sport spings, Halo 2 projectors, and '99-'00 tails. Got tired of not enough power and wanted daul cam power and put the Civic on Ebay in '04 and it sold in 3 days. 3 months later got a sweet deal on my Teg, though it was down on its luck at the time but a lil' TLC and me being a tech at Hagerstown Honda at the time got her back in2 top runnin' condition. Now I'm stuck on Teggy's and will never go back. :headbang: :drive:

Dad got my into cars when i was about 8, wanted to build an old school 70s car. 71 Challenger to be exact, but just can't find one. Uncle brought the teg I have now over, when he bought it new. Thats when I started to like the import scene, I asked him for that car for 10 years till he caved in and hooked me up.

Everyone is going to think its the stupidest thing.....
I got into it cuz of the movie....... everyone knows which one.
I used to hate imports and rag on them. I owned a 1983 Cadillac and always was into Low Riders. I was into Hot Rods when I was about 10 cuz my dad had stacks of Hot Rod Magazines and Truck Magazines. I remember trying to draw some of them but ended up copying them over. From then it was on......
I still own another Lowrider (My 1978 Ford Ranchero) but then started loving imports cuz of the movie. I then bought a 2001 Mazda Protege LX 2.0 and fixed that puppy up! but had to get ride of her because needed a bigger family car. Now I have my tegra and love her to death and never want to get rid of her. I rather have Project "DARK ANGEL" sit in my backyard if I ever get another car. I will probably have her till I grow Old!

Dont feel bad, I know many people that got into it because of said movie. Im with you I used to be into mini trucks, and car stereos that affected your fuel economy. Planned on an extended cab S10 bagged with 18s and 4 15"s. Glad I got the teg. I will find the picture of the car that got me back into the import game.
