what year is your car?
pre 96 cars have a fitv under the throttle body that also controls idle. i wrote a write up on how to clean it.
Also check for vacume leaks
If all this fails unplug the map and if it does the same thing its the map sensor

start the car without the intake and then put your hand over the throttle body your hand should suck in and your car should die if it dies it has no vacume leak it it stays on it has a vacume leak
