From my understanding the second fan only kicks on when you're running hot. But it's probably still a good idea to have both anyways cause why not? I can pull one out of the pick and pull and take it home for like 20 dollars

Yes, but to be more specific, it turns on when you're at idle and the car isn't moving.

If you have room for 2 fans, slap it on.

Leave the primary fan oem wired, hardwire the secondary to a toggle.

I don't see how it would hurt anything lol. Personally I would get a 3 core half rad with a bitchin slim fan with hella cfm.

Then slap on an oil cooler right next to the rad.

Just saying.
