I am not sure what Audi you're talking about. The '08 S4 is a 4.2L DOHC 40v V8 with 340hp and you can't find one of those for $20k. The S4 hasn't been turbocharged since 2002. Maybe you meant '98 and not '08? But $20k is way too much for a '98. I assume you are talking about a A4 2.0T Quattro?

I would much rather have an S4. But a $20k budget isn't going to put me into a proper S4 that I would want. The money would be better spent on a WRX. If we were talking $30k, I'd take the S4 in a heart beat. The A4 is nice, but it doesn't really have much nuts. In that comparison it just depends whether you're out for performance or class and style.

PS - The Mazdaspeed 6 is AWD. It is the Mazdaspeed 3 that is only FWD.

how about a used BMW 330xi? maybe not as powerful as some of the supercharged and turbocharged cars mentioned already, but does that really matter when it's the middle of January and you're driving in ice and snow?? put some snow tires on it, and it will handle superbly, which is what matters most IMO.
