Newbie question :(

So I hate to ask this but honestly I have no idea what it's called. At the end of the tie rod that connects to the knuckle, there is like a ball joint. The boots on them on both sides of my car are ripped and I want to replace them... Whole tie rod or can I replace that "ball joint"

Its called the outer tie rod. There is both an inner and outer and yes its pretty much like a balljoint on the end, a pivot point on the knuckle. You can just buy the outer tie rods thats all you will need.

Also while you are at it.....check the inners tie rods aswell for preventive repairs later on. IMO
