Piston say hi to Mr. Valve!

jason.az1

I'm lost!
So Im curious as to if I want to build my motor I have a few questions I guess....

Now a stock b18c1 is 10.0:1 comp

Now a stock b18c1 with
-Jdm Itr pistons would be 11.3:1 comp
-Jdm Ctr pistons would be 12.0:1 comp

Now the pistons I want to buy come any almost any compression I want.
I want to buy Supertech High Performance Forged Pistons.
In 81.5mm with the rings they suggest for $80 more
but I dont know what compression I want to do because I dont know how large of a dome
I can do before running the risk of causing the pistons to hit the head/valves

I was thinking about a 11.6:1 pistons or 12.1:1 piston
The 11.6:1 is higher then itr pistons yet lower then ctr Im pretty sure Itr pistons clear with no problem.
So Im guessing Id be fine with the 11.6 pistons

Now Im not sure if Ctr pistons clear in a gsr so if they dont then I know I cant do the 12.1:1
but if ctrs do clear then I guess I can do the 12.1 pistons.

So I guess this thread is about can I run 11.6:1 or 12.1:1 pistons in a gsr with no problems?
As in slapping etc....

If I did do pistons Ill be buying Ctr cams and going to get tune on crome or hondata

I run 13:1 cp pistons and don't have any problem with valve contact. Your pistons have valve reliefs so that this isn't a problem. The only thing is that your timing has to be dead on and you have less of a room for error.

x2

weisco usually has valve relief and i think ctr pistons do as well.

Don't forget about labor costs, and all those cams are going to make power way too high for your setup. I have buddy club stage 4s and I don't start making good power till 7200.

Labor me and my buddy will be doing this, Ill send the block off to get bored/honed other then that we will be building it.

Which cams would you suggest then for that set up? I was orginally thinking ctrs but I want to atleast hit a mid to low 13 so I dont think a stock cams will do it :(
I was looking into blox but because how cheap the price was I was a little scared away thinking the quality might be bad.

Id like to keep the orginal gsr from the car and build it to do what I want but it might be easyer to buy a b20
B20 block.
RS pistons.
ARP rod and head bolts.
new bearings.
Gsr head with the suspertech valve train and bc cams That alone would be cheapier and I belive 220whp around that area

Without doing any head work I would suggest buddy club 3s, or if you have a little more cash some skunk 2 pro 1s
