please help. Oil on spark plug

Ok today i was changing my plug wire and and spark plug. when i got to cylinder #2 there was oil inside where the plug wire goes. the spark plug was soaked. now i dont know what is wrong. please help me? i cant afford to go to a mechanic. do i need a new top end? i have no clue at all.

Do a compression test. Could be rings.

I was changing my spark plugs and plug wires. when i got to the #2 cylinder, i pulled the plug wire out ant ther was oil. my plug wire was soaked and the spark plug was drowning in it. i dont have the money to take it to a mechanic. i just need to figure out whats wrong so i could fixed it.. please help...

are you missing the o ring that goes between the valvecover and the spark plug well???

oh i dont know. im going to take of the valve cover. to see. that could be it since the #1 cylinder was dry. is missing the o ring a serious problem?

changed the valve cover o rings. so far no more oil in the spark plug cylinders..
