My in laws are from western ny and say pop. Im from nothern NY where I grew up saying soda. Coke is a southern thing. The map confirms all this.
I've never heard anyone that's originally from Florida call it pop, always just soda. Some of my family lives in Canada and they switch between the two.From eastern Long Island (NY) never heard 'Pop" until I was down in Fl a few years back.

WNY, Buffalo area everyone calls it Pop. I sort of prefer soda myself, but usually say Pop. It's just easier to say...we're that lazy up here.I thought that they called it pop in NY?
Midwest uses pop especially in Illinois and WisconsinSoda. I never heard anyone say pop in my life.
