problem changing the auto gear to parking. help please

hey i have a 92 integra rs auto & the problem is that after driving or anything when i park and change the gear into "P" it takes a while to kick into it. i usually have to wait a couple minutes cause i cant turn it off. Can anyone help me?

My DA has the same problem, but it's usually only really bad when its cold out.

Do your RPM's go up by like 1500?

Oh I meant when you put it in park.

no when i put it in park it idles up and down between 200 & 300 rpm

I think it's a transmission issue. How does it feel going through the gears while you drive? Notice the same lag?
