Quick brakes questions

OK so my car needs brakes. How easy is it to do brake job on my 90 integra with set of socket wrenches? Also, at what point do you need to replace the rotors?

or if they are below the minimum service thickness. If you take them off and look on the inside it should tell you the minimum amount. Working without an impact always sucks, but it can be done.
