Rattling sound!!!!

my 99 ls makes a loud rattling sound when i go over bumps..i already checked everything down there n everything seems fine...a few people say that i could be my steering rack n pinion???if that what is to be the problem is it hard to replace the rack n pinion???is it expensive to replace buy new or used??

I highly doubt it's your rack opinion. That's bolted right to the K frame underneath the car.It could be loose, but it's very unlikely for that to happen. I would check your struts because they would make a banging sound going over bumps if they are bad.

Check the heat shields underneath.i know they make a really annoying rattling when they're loose.

I took my car in to do a wheel alignment n the mechanic that did it told me that he noticed the rack n pinion loose...I forgot to tell him if he can show me..can any regular mechanic shop tell me whats wrong???
