restoring black molding around windows

Don't mean to thread jack, but it's on topic.

Anyways, there's a bit of surface rust on the window trim, I know I need to sand it off, but what grit would you guys recommend for that? And should I use Rustoleum or Plastidip afterwards?

800 grit to scuff it, I would use paint. Cheaper.

they make a trim dressing that you rub on kinda like tire shine. i think its made by 3m. alot easier then painting. or you could do what i did an go to the junk yard an get some used ones for 10 dollars

Mine is the same way it's looks chrome now at the top of the door / bottom of the window. It's just peeled off.

use a razor blade and cut it off at the bottom of the ridge, peel the rest off and paint it all black, if you do a careful job, it looks perfect
