smokin cold start

Sup? recently bought a 95 RS and it smokes baaaaad on cold start. The smoke smells like gas n oil mixed.The car idles good about 700rpm but sometimes it bounces to 900 then back to 700. I have had people tell me everything from head gasket to bad valve seats .CAN ANYONE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION B4 I WASTE ANY MONEY???????????????

I would think compression test and leakdown test as way to get some info and potentially eliminate bigger problems.

sounds like valve stem seals.. they leak past the stem and into the combustion chamber when u shut the car of, When u start the car it all gets burned up and shoved out the exhaust

as long as the smoke goes away after driving for a bit then its valve seals if it smokes even after warming up and driving for awhile then you need piston rings.
